Vieux Carre Rye Cocktail

Description

This drink is named for the old quarter in New Orleans. It’s similar to a classic Old Fashioned with a bit more complexity and deep, subtle sweetness. Enjoy.


Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ oz. Rye Whiskey (Rittenhouse)
  • ¾ oz. Cognac (Ussé)
  • ¾ oz. Sweet Vermouth (Nouilly Pratt)
  • ¼ oz. Bénédictine liqueur
  • 1 - 2 dashes Peychaud’s Bitter’s
  • 1 - 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon twist for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a glass, combine whiskey, cognac, sweet vermouth, benedictine, and both bitters.
  2. Add ice and stir for 20 seconds until chilled.
  3. Fill a lowball glass with ice.
  4. Add stirred cocktail and garnish with lemon twist.
