If there ever was a Thanksgiving cocktail, this is it. Since the first time we served it in the Fall, its been requested ever year. You might even say it’s not Thanksgiving without it.
Everyone has a few, well hopefully at least one! meals that were truly memorable. For me, Thanksgiving about 8 years ago really stands out. Our family is has been good friends with another family for years. Our parents know each other in college and all of us kids are the same age. We one of the kids had been remodeling their house and had it finished in time for Thanksgiving, making it the perfect venue for our annual event. Since the beginning of time, we have celebrated Thanksgiving together.
We got a little bit out of control with excitement. Everything suddenly seemed like a good idea and the food assortment went from being it's normal incredible to amazing off the charts awesome. We had three turkey's which may seem a bit glutinous but we were a lot of people. Smoked turkey, fried turkey, and a good old oven turkey. Everyone made their favorite side, everyone made their favorite pie. Milda made her rolls! It was truly blessed event.
What was more, was Max was there. Max, at the time, was living in Seattle sworking as a bartender for a super cool speakeasy with incredible cocktails. So as his addition to Thanksgiving, he set up a small bar in the corner and mixed up something special. The Preakness.
One sip and they say that memories are related to taste and flavor, it is. The Preakness became synonymous with the greatest Thanksgiving ever and to this day is held in the highest regard of drinks. Oh you're making a Preakness, the food your serving better be stellar to go with this stellar drink!
The drink is great. It's simple, easy to make and easy to pair. Defiantly worth your time, Thanksgiving meal or not.
And here's a fun one. But besides the notoriety in our family, the Preakness is actually a known entity. Yes, it's incredible, but there are things that we didn't make famous because of thanksgiving meal.
No, the Preakness, named after the ever so much more famous, The Preakness Stakes, an American flat thoroughbred horse race held on the third Saturday in May each year at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. Here millions of dollars are won, and the most delicious cocktails are served! So be it an incredible Thanksgiving or an incredible horse race, go try this one out!
