Description

This is a favorite in France. Everyone eats it and waits for the next loaf to pop out of the oven. Jump on board with this simple to make loaf that will have you sneaking bites.

 


Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp. MarnaMaria Quatre Epices
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. finely grated orange zest
  • 1 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
  2. Butter a loaf pan, dust it with flour, then tap out any excess.
  3. Combine flour, MarnaMaria Quatre Epices, baking soda and salt in a bowl.
  4. In the separate bowl, mix together the butter, egg, sugar and orange zest.
  5. Add the water, then gradually add the dry ingredients, until just combined. Be careful to not overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let cool for 10 minutes, then remove from the loaf pan and transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
