Dried basil can be a difficult ingredient to use. It sounds great in theory, but in practice, dried basil does not have the same flavors as fresh.

First of all, these are delicious. They are a perfect savory biscuit with breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The parmesan cheese pairs so well with the dried basil, and the vehicles of a fresh biscuit, how can anyone say no?
These biscuits can be made larger or smaller depending on your preference or what other dishes you may be serving. They can be made in advance, frozen, and then defrosted and reheated.

Basil Biscuits with Parmesan Cheese

Description

Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tsp. MarnaMaria Dried Basil
- ½ tsp. MarnaMaria Garlic granules
- 2 ½ tsp. baking powder
- ½ tsp. baking soda
- ¾ tsp. Kosher salt
- ¼ tsp. black pepper
- 4 tbsp. butter, melted + 1 tbsp. butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- In a small bowl, combine milk and lemon juice to make buttermilk. Set aside.
- In a separate large bowl, combine the flour, parmesan cheese, dried basil, garlic granules, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and pepper.
- Using a fork, stir in milk mixture and 4 tbsp. melted butter until combined, being careful not to overmix.

Using your hands, form biscuits of about ⅓ cup and place 1-inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Flatten slightly so the have a disk-like shape.

Bake for 16 minutes or until lightly browned.

Brush with remaining melted butter.
