Description
While Garam Masala is a typically Indian spice blend for cooking, the uses for it go far across borders. This sweet and spicy mix is the perfect topping, mix-in, seasoning, and marinade that’s around.

- 1 cup whole milk or coconut milk
- 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp. MarnaMaria Garam Masala plus extra for decorating
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp. vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp. corn starch
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 3/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Cream Cheese Frosting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
- In a small bowl, combine the coconut milk, apple cider vinegar, and Garam Masala.
- In the bowl of stand mixture (you can also use a hand mixer), cream together the butter and sugar until fluffy and light in color. About 5 minutes.
- Stir in the vanilla.
- Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, sift together the flour, corn starch, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Working in batches, with the mixer running, add 1/3 of the flour mixture to the creamed sugar and butter. Then add 1/3 of the milk mixture. Continue alternating flour and milk, finishing with the milk. Mix until just combined.The batter will be very thick.
- Scoop batter into a prepared cupcake pan, filling about 2/3 the way full.
- Bake cupcakes for 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- When cool, frost cupcakes and sprinkle with a bit more Garam Masala for a beautiful finished product with some extra spice!
